QBF!

Quilting-by-the-Freeway

Recap: 1 year of planning, 2 warm houses, 3 starter ideas, 4 lovely ladies, 5 days of creative fun!

See the fabric portraits that mom made of each us - she incorporated the identities/voices that we came up in Elizabeth's class last year - Storyteller, SparkyZen, Magical Realism, & Abstract with Repetition. Love them! She let us each take ours home. Shirl had us try out the latest technique from Karen Eckmeier which was a great way to get into our creative modes.

We hit the park to try out Karen's new "thing" Letterboxing - you find a hidden box with a rubber stamp inside and mark your notebook then you take your stamp and sign in their small notebook - we had luck on our first round which was great but on our second stop we couldn't find the box - it was either well-hidden or gone.

We did a wire mesh project - I showed the ladies how to patina the mesh and use stencils, masks, and resists to create images. Mom showed us how to print photos on fabric and also how to make bubble jet fabric from muslin to use for photo printing and then we created canvas booklets to hold our QBF memories.

QBF vs QBL

QBF wins since we get to eat great food and drink lots of great wine and also sleep in nice beds!

Cheers!

You all look great! So glad you had a nice relaxing time. Tell Shirley that I put Karen E. as a teacher I would like to see at QBL this year on my evaluation form. Thanks for sharing.
